A new collection of luxury lodges has been built in the grounds of the historic Tregenna Castle Resort. All design, materials and furniture finishes had to be of the highest quality and that’s why CUPA PIZARRAS natural slate was chosen as the roofing material.
When it was decided that the Castle was going to host the next G7 meeting, the execution of the work had a strict deadline to meet. Thanks to close collaboration with our team and Jewson Hayle and Penzance, all the logistical challenges were overcome to ensure the hosting world leader summit was a success.
While the spectacular views of the St Ives coastline delighted the attendees, the coastal conditions are always a problem for any building material’s lifespan. Thanks to its natural properties, slate boasts excellent durability to even in the most extreme weather.
As Tregenna Castle is a Grade II listed property, all the materials had to fulfill strict quality criteria. Summit Roofing Solutions was in charge of this delicate installation, which used CUPA 12 natural slates using stainless steel hooks.
“We took over this project after a prior installation using another brand of slate was not approved by the main contractor Upon receiving the brief, we recognized that CUPA PIZARRAS’ solutions could help us to meet all key project goals”, explained Adam Palmer, Company Owner.
The roofing job was extremely technical as all the slates had to be lined up perfectly with one another, especially on the lodges. The extraordinary rigorous classification process of our natural slates guaranteed the flatness and regular thickness needed for the installation.
The last stages of the roofing were under a huge pressure. “With the site more restricted than usual, our team had to work hard to ensure effective delivery and logistical performance”, remembers Stuart Black, Sales Manager at CUPA PIZARRAS.
