The winners of Skill Build Competition visit our natural slate quarries!

Skill Build Competition is the UK’s largest and longest running multi-trade competition with students competing in roof slating, carpentry, joinery, plastering, drywall systems… It is run by CITB and its main goal is to find the very best construction talent in the country.

A real opportunity to enhance slating skills

Roofing students from Leeds College of Building took all three top places in the roofing competition! William Emerton, Harry Pennock and Harry Hillam-Thompson took first, second and third places respectively.

As a result of their achievement, they won a trip to Spain to view slate production at CUPA PIZARRAS’ quarries.

And today was the day! They visited the largest slate quarry in the world, named Las Arcas and located in San Pedro de Trones (León, Spain). Once in one of ours transformation warehouse factories, they had the opportunity to find out how natural slate is produced.
