CUPACLAD adds a modern touch to residential extension in Poringland
Located just south of Norwich, Poringland derives its name from the local soil conditions that posed challenges for early settlers—the term “Poor spring land” reflecting its historically difficult terrain.
Despite this, modern ingenuity has found its way into the heart of the village through the thoughtful renovation efforts of Scott Youngson. Residing in his cosy residential bungalow, Scott embarked on a transformative journey to enhance both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of his home.
Scott meticulously researched various property fronts and porches, seeking inspiration from magazines until he found the perfect fit:
After researching slate and seeing other buildings, particularly how CUPACLAD is used at the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences at Cambridge University, we were sold on the idea”
Scott contacted CUPA PIZARRAS and received information and samples, which he tested on the porch. It looked great.
CUPACLAD 101 Random was the system chosen to create a stunning entrance for the brick bungalow due to its modern and dynamic look. The natural slate rainscreen system complements the building’s existing brickwork, creating a seamless blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
Scott’s objective was to extend the front of his home to create a more welcoming entrance and a bright office space. He used existing architectural plans as a basis and hired local contractors to handle the groundwork.
Fitsall Roofing had previous experience with our products, allowing them to effortlessly install the cladding system within a matter of weeks. The company conducted the work as planned, ensuring a smooth and efficient installation process.
This project highlights the versatility of CUPACLAD and its suitability for smaller projects. Scott explains:
It’s completely changed the whole outlook of the building and created a real open feel to the entrance.
