The French Rochard et Fils are the winners of the Best of the Best 2024
Rochard et Fils has won our annual natural slate contest. Their exceptional roofing skills first convinced our followers, and then our jury who have decided that for the second consecutive year there is a French champion of the Best of the Best. Congratulations!

The members of Rochard et Fils will travel to La Medua (Spain) to see up close the process of extraction and transformation of our natural slate; an experience during which they will see firsthand the care and attention in which we produce the products that they install on the roofs. This year the winner’s are lucky enough to receive an extra prize: the Rochard et Fils roofers will have the opportunity to attend a football match at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium and watch Real Madrid play!
For this year’s competition, we split the French entries into 2 groups, as we received a high number of videos. In the first round, Duhamel Couverture won against the BTP CFA Vendée training centre and the companies Beillard Couverture, Toiture Parisienne, Les métiers du bois and Daussy Couverture.
As for the second French group, it was the roofers from Rochard et Fils who won the first round against Le Gall Couverture, J. Helies Couverture, CAP Couverture and Barnichon Toiture.
Among the British, the 2022 winner, Compass Roofing, came out on top against Waring Building & Roofing, Greenhill Roofing, Roof Brothers, Ryan Edgar Roofing and A2O Facades.
In a first varied international group, the Belgians from Darkweken Janssens moved on to the second phase of the competition, beating the Danes from Falk tag and façade, the Spanish from Cubiersa, and their Belgian compatriots from L’art doisier and Versadakwerken.
In the second international group, China’s Beijing Nanshang Technology Center were the public favourites to beat Poland’s Modern Roof, followed by South Africa’s Naturally Slate, Slovakia’s Lukas Turiak, Cameroon’s Batchingou and Hungary’s Teto Horn.
In the second round of the competition, the members of the jury each awarded points to their favourite videos. Thanks to their votes, Rochard et Fils took first place on the podium, followed by the Chinese roofers from Beijing Nanshang Technology Center and the British entry Compass Roofing.

The exceptional craftsmanship displayed in the winning projects was truly remarkable. The skill required to work in confined spaces while transforming slate pieces into art was extraordinary. The creation of domes, turrets, and intricate details showcased the crews’ expertise in reroofing and preserving the architectural beauty of these buildings. As a judge, it was a privilege to participate in recognizing and celebrating these outstanding achievements.
